“SEE MUSKOKA THROUGH OUR EYES"
ANNUAL TRADITIONAL POWWOW
JUNE 29 & 30, 2024
ANNIE WILLIAMS PARK, BRACEBRIDGE
OUR STORY
In Honour of “The One Dish with One Spoon Treaty," and Truth and Reconciliation; we are inviting you to join us in supporting the first annual Traditional Powwow in Muskoka!
Through this Powwow, we will be showcasing what Muskoka has to offer and bring all of us together, in the spirit of reconciliation, to celebrate the Summer Solstice, Indigenous Awareness Month, Multiculturalism Day and Canada Day in peace and harmony.
“See Muskoka Through Our eyes.” Annual Powwow is an opportunity to showcase this unique, magical, region, the important connections that everyone has and the pathway towards Reconciliation. This Powwow will build on the work and relationships we are fostering though the Muskoka Area Indigenous Leadership Table. This event will focus on compassion, love, honour, respect, thanks and gratitude of the past and present. Without this truth there can never be true reconciliation. By fostering a positive journey towards Truth and Reconciliation we can make a difference together. This event allows for Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities to interact and learn about each other in a positive way.
Location: To connect with our Indigenous ancestors, this event will be held alongside the Muskoka River, a traditional trading route, in Annie Williams Park, Bracebridge.
This Area is, and always has been a mystical, magical and powerful place.
What better way to unify and reaffirm all of our relationships with Nature and each other.
We hope you will join us in this learning and celebration.
